A Year in Review

January 6, 2014

I can’t believe it’s been almost a month and a half since I’ve updated this blog. The past three weeks I’ve been almost solely at home taking care of my husband.  He had a pterygium (also known as Surfer’s eye) removed from both of his eyes!  A pterygium is an extra growth of skin that grows on the cornea.  It was causing him a great amount of discomfort so we decided it was time to get them taken out.  We were able to use the rest of the money from our health savings account to get the surgery (saved us a few hundred dollars in taxes…..yessssssssssss.)

It was nice to have all of that alone time with him before baby boy comes.  Ever since we paid off the mortgage, I’ve only been working about 2 days a week which has been AMAZING!!!!! It was nice to have the option to stay home and take care of him. I don’t think that I’ve spent this much time with my husband since the first year we got married because we had been working so much.  The past 31 months of working like crazy has been well worth it to be able to spend more time together!

I feel like I swallowed a hamster.  It still amazes me that there is a little person swimming around in my stomach!  At 7 and a half months, I can feel him getting bigger and stronger. Can’t believe that my husband is going to have a little mini-me running around!  I’m so excited to meet him! Here are some of the highlights from this past year, looking forward to an awesome 2014!!!!

I’m sorry about your husband’s eyes – that sound terrible! Spending so much time with him despite the terrible reason must have been really nice though 🙂 Happy 2014!
