Frugal summer activities and camping meal plans
Everyday that I haven’t been at work for the past couple of weeks, I have been partaking in my beach office:
Unfortunately, this beach office doesn’t regularly provide reception, so I have been on a blog hiatus. When it’s a nice day, going to the beach is one of our favorite, frugal things to do. There are many beaches that you can visit for free, or you can buy a state park pass if you are like us, and plan to spend most days off here 😉
Another frugal activity that I have been enjoying regularly is running! Luckily we live relatively close to the beach and have been taking full advantage of runs on the beach with friends. This kills two birds with one stone: quality friend time and regular exercise. The view from these runs:
If you don’t live by the beach, I bet there are tons of awesome trails by your neck of the woods, waiting to be explored by you and your friends!! It’s inexpensive and good for you!
Lastly, we have been enjoying outdoor potlucks! We LOVE using our Dutch oven!!!! Food tastes better when its prepared and eaten outside.
It has been fun to share weekly meals at the beach with our friends. We come up with a menu plan, divide up the dishes, and partake in a delicious meal on the beach (or park, or campground.) the more people you can get involved, the less of a burden each family has to take. Some of the more recent meal plans include:
Chili dogs with all the fixings, salad, corn on the cob and s’mores.
Dutch oven Cheese enchiladas, chips and salsa, salad and pineapple upside down cake.
Dutch oven lasagne, fruit and make-your-own camp cone.
That’s all for now! Hoping to be back tomorrow with a mortgage update for June (I am so behind on posting.) but if its a beautiful day, I might be getting some Vitamin D instead 😉
Have a great day!!!!
