May Mortgage Payoff Status
We were only able to take off one piece of our debt for the month of May, but one is definitely better than none! We are so excited because we can actually see the light at the end of the tunnel! We are hoping to have only 5-6 more months left until we are done!!!
If you are new to this blog, this is our visual aid for our mortgage payoff. Every black piece represents a sum of money towards our debt. We take a piece off every time we reach the dollar value of a black piece.
In the beginning: June 2011
April 2013: 3 pieces removed
May 2013: One piece removed!!!
We are camping right now. I’m currently sitting at the local hotspot in Curry village, Yosemite, because it’s the only place I can get a connection. I had all these fantasies that I would get up early every morning, have breakfast, and make a blog post here, but the wifi is very unreliable. We are in Yosemite Valley, in the middle of a bunch of glaciers and God’s creation, so I’m ok with the fact that the internet is almost obsolete here.
Recreation money: I spent way more than I was hoping to, yet again. I did spend my money on something other than food: I purchased the piano sheet music to Mumford and Sons, “I will wait.” It’s a great song! I listen to it at least once a day.
Money obstacles: We had to budget for our week-long camping getaway, which is always a frugal trip. However, it’s still extra that we could have been putting toward our mortgage. I see it is a major investment into our marriage, which is worth far more than paying off the mortgage a little sooner.
Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!
