Frugal Day trip-Carslbad Flower Fields

May 6, 2013

We learned the hard way and spent $22 for our entrance to the flower fields. Bummer!  While taking pictures near the perimeter of the field, we saw people walking on a path above and outside the field gates. They were so close that we could have handed them our cameras and asked them to take a picture!  They told us that there is a public path off of Armada Street where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the entire flower fields….for free! Next time!

We spent about an hour looking in local free magazines for a coupon to the flower fields,  but couldn’t find one. Booo! The good thing is that we packed a delicious lunch and didn’t spend any money on food or drinks!  They allow you to bring food and drink inside which provides for a nice picnic (provided it’s not too hot.)  Be sure to bring LOTS of water. We also brought some games and books 😉

I would recommend going in the flower fields and paying the entrance fee once before you go the frugal route of the free public path. It’s fun to walk around and take pictures!  The colors of the ranunculus are beautiful!
