One of the funnest, most frugal date nights you can have
I’m a cheap date, my idea of a fun frugal time is going to the beach. Luckily Mr. BigTime and I live drivings distance to the beach. What do we do there? We play with our dutch ovens, hang out with friends, eat food, read books and magazines, lay out, eat food, play games, have bonfires and eat more food 😉 Mr. BigTime’s favorite thing to do at the beach is surf. I LOVE watching him surf, and have gone out with him on a rare occasion. I’m deathly afraid of the water, running into other surfers, having my board hit me in the face…..and SHARKS! Anyway, here are some reasons why you should be having more beach dates if you have one close to you.
1. It’s cheap!
We buy the pass that is $195 and this gets us entrance into 99% of all State Parks in California. We try to go to the beach between 2-4 times a week (depending on our schedule.) If we go 2 times per week x 52 weeks that equals 110 times per year. Divide $195/110 times per year and that equals $1.77 for one person, divide that by two since we both go together and that equals $0.88 per person per trip to the beach. Not to shabby. Jealous? Don’t be, click here to buy your own CA park pass.
2. It’s fun to make delicious frugal camp food.
When else would you be able to make tons of hot dogs, corn on the cob, smores, banana delight and other camp food. Our favorite is playing around with our dutch oven. Mr. BigTime has it down to a science, and the meals that he makes are pinterest-worthy.
3. We build community
It’s fun to hang out with friends and make new ones at the beach. MOST people are super friendly, and it’s always a fun surprise what you see at the beach. Everything from dogs to goats surfing. Yes i said goats.
4. We enjoy God’s creation.
We enjoy everything from the sand and water to the beautiful sun. The beach is magnificent and proof that there is a greater being who created it. It’s nice to be reminded of that every time we visit.
Question for you: What do you like about going to the beach? What is your idea of a fun, frugal date night?
