Frugal Foodie-Native Foods

April 7, 2012

Nurse Frugal has been compiling a list of restaurants in the area to visit. Native Foods in Costa Mesa, California was on the list. I recently reconnected with an old friend I’ve known since I was about 13, she lives in Long Beach so this was the perfect meeting place in the middle. It was actually funny how I reconnected with my friend. About 2 months ago I was able to get through on the Dave Ramsey radio show. I asked Dave a question about retirement vs. paying off our house early (I was so STOKED). My friend, Miss L, happened to be listening at that same time and emailed me saying she thought she heard me on the Dave Ramsey show! Native Foods was the perfect place to meet because Miss L is vegan and Native Foods is a completely vegan restaurant. These are some fun shots I took with my new Canon G12. These pictures are making me hungry again:

The incredible chili fries!!! The definitely are as delicious as they look 😉

This is the chicken ranch vegan sandwich with sweet potato fries that Miss L ordered:

This is the Western Bacon cheeseburger vegan style that I ordered. I never knew vegan could be so awesome! On a side note, I don’t like how this picture has a big shadow in it, any suggestions on how I could have avoided that?

Needless to say, I felt like a roly poly when I walked out of there; I could have rolled out of there I had eaten so much! I forgot to take pictures of the dessert, but I would highly recommend the peanut butter cup parfait, it was fantastic!
