Fridays
I’ve never been in 18 degree weather before. Being from Southern California, I’m a bit on the spoiled side when it comes to weather. The coldest it got here in Lake Tahoe was 18 degrees, but overall it was fairly warm and sunny during the day (in the mid 50′s) most of the week. It was so nice to be able to spend time with family and do fun activities together like cross-country skiing, snowboarding, bowling and sledding!
I’ve only been snowboarding once before, and although I did enjoy it this time, I totally had a mini-meltdown. Just as I was getting the hang of it, I was cruising down the bunny slopes pretty fast and caught my heel edge in the snow and landed flat on my upper back and head, no loss of consciousness, no protective head gear, no will to go on. I’m not going to lie, the ER nurse in me started to think if there was a chance I would get an aneurysm, or maybe an epidural hematoma…but after more than an hour of lucid behavior I figured I would be ok.
I really felt bad for my little sister. She went a little sled-crazy and caught about 3 feet of air while going on a small disc and landed flat on her butt. In her words “I think I just broke my ass.” I didn’t really know what to say to that, but after a few more runs on the sledding hill, I was convinced it was broken too because of how much pain she was in. She was fine after 2 more days, although I was ready to take her in and have x-rays done. Could you imagine her triage: “Hi, I think I broke my butt.” Here are some pictures from this past week, have a great day!
{The second picture is definitely not my best silly face, but my sister’s is pretty epic}
{Anyone else see something wrong with this picture? Apparently my husband is impervious to cold weather.}
{Epic fail on the sledding with sister}
{That’s better…..and then there is husband in the background, dripping sweat.}
{Sledding races, and my sister before she broke her butt}
Thanks for stopping by!
Questions for you: Have you been in the snow lately? What are your favorite winter sports? Any major fails while skiing/snowboarding?

I’m so glad you’re okay! I had to giggle at the 18 degree thing. :p I’m in love with skiing….it’s the only way I can really enjoy the cold. Tried boarding, but got frustrated because I was at an eastern resort and didn’t know to try the slopes instead of starting on the trails. (Couldn’t get any momentum.)
Sledding!!! One of the only bright sides to being in that 18 degree weather.
so fun!
I live in the Northeast and do not care for snow or the bitter cold weather. But I am use to it. Your posting made me smile. Your snow story is adorable!
Looks like you guys had so much fun
Hope your sister is feeling better though, Ouch!
LOL! I have totally done ALL those things. It’s funny because every year I snowboarded I added new protective gear. Luckily I never had anything serious happen. Then I took up surfing and I had to get stitches in my face twice, and here I am with probably a volleyball shoulder injury. Ah the price of fun!
Cute pics! You’re adorable BTW!
